Go to Close AI, then Reconciliations, open Bank reconciliation and choose Import statement. Pick the bank account and upload the statement file, from PDF, Excel or CSV to your bank's standard formats. Auto-match pairs the lines with the ledger, you match the rest or explain them, and when the difference to the bank is zero you mark it reconciled. A second person reviews and signs it.
How do you import a statement?
- Open Bank reconciliationGo to Close AI, then Reconciliations, open Bank reconciliation and choose Import statement.
- Choose the account and the filePick the bank or cash account and upload the statement. PDF, Excel, CSV and the standard statement files banks provide are read.
- Check what was readNaarvin shows the account named in the file and the opening and closing balances. If the account in the file differs from the one you chose, you are warned; importing anyway is recorded in the audit trail.
- Check the signsDeposits must be positive and withdrawals negative. If the file has them the other way round, flip every sign before importing.
How do you reconcile it?
- Auto-matchPairs statement lines with ledger entries by amount, date within the match window you set, and reference.
- Match groupsOne bank line can match several ledger entries, or several bank lines one entry. Search for a group that adds up, or pick the entries by hand.
- Handle feesA card or bank fee can be matched net of the fee, and the fee journal drafted for approval.
- Explain the restGive a reason for lines with no ledger entry, or draft the adjusting journal.
- Mark reconciledWhen the difference to the bank is zero, mark the statement reconciled. It then waits for a second person to review and sign.
Which balances does the page show?
| Balance | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Opening (bank) | The statement's opening balance |
| Cleared and explained | Lines matched or explained so far |
| Computed closing | Opening plus cleared and explained lines |
| Difference to bank | The bank's closing balance less the computed closing; zero when done |
| Book less bank | The ledger balance against the bank, explained by uncleared items |
Can statements arrive without uploading?
Yes. Statement files your bank delivers to a folder can be read automatically; our team sets this up with you. A reconciled statement can be reopened with a reason, which is kept in the audit trail.
Questions people ask
Does Naarvin connect to our bank directly?
Naarvin works from statement files, uploaded or delivered to a folder. See the [bank statements integration](/integrations/bank-statements).
Can the person who reconciled also sign it off?
No. A reconciled statement waits for a second person's review and signature.
Does Naarvin post the adjusting journals?
It drafts them for approval. They go to your ERP only after approval, once your admin turns sending on.
