Slack + Naarvin: finance notices in your channels, no amounts

Naarvin posts notices of syncs, approvals, ERP postings and reports to Slack channels, in Arabic or English, with names and statuses but never amounts.

In short

Naarvin posts short notices to the Slack channels you choose: a sync finished or failed, an approval was requested or decided, a journal was drafted, posted or refused by the ERP, a report went out. Each channel picks its events and its language, Arabic or English, and no notice carries an amount.

What arrives in a Slack channel?

One short message per event: a bold title, a line naming what happened, and a link that opens the item in Naarvin. You choose the events for each channel, or all of them.

Notices a Slack channel can receive
EventWhat the message says
Sync completed or failedThe connection, how many records loaded and the date the data runs to, or the error
Approval requested or decidedThe action and the company, and whether it was approved or rejected
Journal drafted for reviewThe company and where the journal came from, waiting on the ERP postings page
Journal posted to the ERP, or posting failedThe journal's memo and reference, or the ERP's refusal
Month signed off or reopenedThe company and the month
Scheduled report sentThe report and how many people it was emailed to
Critical findingThe agent, the company and the title of the finding

A file attached to a close task, a reconciliation or an auditor request, and the result of the audit log's own integrity check, can be sent too.

Why do the notices carry no amounts?

A Slack channel is read by whoever is in it, and channel membership is not managed in Naarvin. So the notices carry names, references, counts and statuses, never amounts. The figures stay behind the link, where Naarvin checks that the person opening it may see that company. See security for how access works.

How does Naarvin post to Slack?

Through a Slack incoming webhook: an address Slack gives you for one channel. Naarvin accepts only addresses on Slack's own webhook host, hooks.slack.com, over HTTPS. The address is sealed when saved and never shown again, because anyone holding it could post to the channel.

A failed delivery is retried. A channel that keeps failing, for example because the webhook was removed in Slack, is paused after 20 failures in a row, and the settings page shows the last error. Recent deliveries can be sent again by hand.

How do you set up a Slack channel?

  1. Create an incoming webhook in SlackIn Slack, add an incoming webhook to the channel that should receive notices, and copy its address.
  2. Add the channel in NaarvinIn Settings, under webhooks, Slack and Teams, add a Slack channel, paste the address and give it a name. This needs the right to manage integrations and a fresh sign-in check.
  3. Choose events and languageTick the events this channel should get, and choose Arabic or English for its messages.
  4. Send a testSend a test message and check it arrives in the channel.

Use several channels if different teams need different events: payables approvals in one, sync failures in another. A channel cannot be limited to one company, so pick events with that in mind.

Questions people ask

Will a payment amount ever appear in Slack?

No. Notices carry names, references, counts and statuses. Amounts stay in Naarvin, behind the link.

Can different channels get different events?

Yes. Each channel has its own list of events and its own language.

What happens if someone deletes the webhook in Slack?

Deliveries fail and are retried. After 20 failures in a row the channel is paused in Naarvin, and the settings page shows the error until someone replaces the address.
